what I'm up to right

What I'm doing:

Right now I'm working on a few different projects.

First of all, I'm trying to work on this website. I'm promoting my ebook Unconventional, blogging, as well as working on some courses to help SaaS indie hackers, founders, and marketers. I'm also continuing to send out my weekly curated newsletter on the best SaaS marketing content, TL;DR.

Second of all, I'm working on my new project: Cultivate & Keep. My best friend and I just launched a website, podcast, and community for Christian men. We're working on recruiting contributing bloggers, recording podcast episodes, growing our community, and building out courses as well. We're going to be trying different growth experiments including Quora, featuring nonprofits, launching merch, guest blogging, reaching out to influencers, pitching influencers to be on our podcast, doing a giveaway, and more.

I'm also launching The Diary Of An Indie Hacker (link coming soon). Inspired by Chasing Product, Indie Hackers, and The Diary Of A CEO, I'm going to start a podcast recording my journey to trying to become a full-time indie hacker. Right now I work a conventional full-time job as a marketer for a VC backed SaaS startup here in San Diego called Cordial. Long term, my goal is to be an indie entrepreneur. For now, it'll be solo recordings, but maybe later down the road I'll bring on some guests to ramble with me. I'll be talking about marketing, learning to code, productivity, entrepreneurship, and everything I'm doing to grow and develop my current projects.

What I'm listening to:

As an avid podcast listener, I listen to a lot of podcasts. It's gotten to the point that I only listen to like 5% of the podcasts I'm subscribed to.

My favorites right now are:
- Seeking Wisdom
- Indie Hackers
- Everyone Hates Marketers
- Listen Money Matters
- Money Lab
- Build Your SaaS
- Fizzle
- The Minimalists
- Akimbo
- Founder Chats

What I'm reading:

I'm really pushing myself to read more these days. As a part of Cultivate & Keep, we're doing book review episodes, so that's helping motivate some more productive reading.

Here's some of the books I've read recently or plan on reading soon:
- Tribes
- Getting Real
- Essentialism
- Hooked
- Wild At Heart
- 12 Rules For Life
- Visioneering
- Saved From Success
- The Circle Maker
- The Power of Habit
- Extreme Ownership

One of the major themes of my life right now is doing. I've spent a lot of time learning, studying, practicing, etc. Now it's time to actually start executing. This season in my life is going to be defined by doing. Launching two podcasts. Writing more instead of reading more. Experimenting with growth tactics.

I've also realized the importance of habits. After reading Essentialism and Hooked, I realized that I need to have better, and stronger habits. Especially in the areas of exercise, reading, getting up earlier, and blocking off time to work on side projects. Right now I just take my dog on a walk in the morning, but I'd ideally like to turn this habit into doing a full workout in the morning with the dog walk as a part of the workout. I'd also ideally like to read 30 minutes in the morning. Right now that number is 0. I've only been spending a few hours here and there to work on side projects. Now, every other Thursday is devoted to recording Cultivate & Keep episodes and Friday evenings are devoted to other side projects.

This update was on October 1st, 2018.

I'll only send you an email when I have new content available. No gimmicks, no marketing crap, only my best. If you're interested in being sent the best SaaS marketing content curated and sent to each week, check out my TL;DR newsletter.
